On Thursday 28th January, some of the Lark Financial Institutions team attended the Wealth Management Association's Financial Crime Conference at the Guildhall in London.
With the financial crime landscape evolving and cybercriminals adopting new techniques and technologies it is important for businesses to be aware of the increased threats and preventative measures they can adopt.
The conference was attended by leading industry professionals from the regulatory, law enforcement, cyber security and insurance sectors.
As a division, we have been speaking to our clients involved in the Financial Institutions industry about this subject and explaining the structure and benefits of an effective Cyber insurance policy.
At the conference, we were joined by Christopher Burgess - Cyber & Professional Indemnity Team Manager, AIG London, who gave a presentation offering the insurer’s perspective on cyber risk. Chris’’ presentation covered the scope of cyber coverages, market trends, common challenges and information required for underwriting purposes.
In addition, there was a presentation from an Ethical Hacker - Mustafa Al-Bassam, an ex-member of the well-known LulzSec hacker group, who performed a live demonstration of how quick and easy it can be for a hacker to obtain sensitive information from someone or a business.
In all, we very much enjoyed the event and were delighted to be a part of it. The speakers were excellent and very thought-provoking; it was a very informative and educational day. We are proud to be associated with the WMA and look forward to working with them and attending future events.
