Corporate Social Responsibility

At Aston Lark we recognise the value of serving the communities in which we live and work. Sharing and promoting our values of sustainability and good corporate citizenship with all our stakeholders and with our local communities is vital to who we are as a business.

Care is at the heart of all our activities, whether that’s looking after our people, providing a first-class service to our clients or having a positive impact through being a good corporate citizen. Our core purpose of care is supported by our core values: passion, being experts in our fields, working with integrity and ensuring that we deliver.

Our aim is to ensure that everyone does their best to support their colleagues, the market in which we operate and the wider community, and to ensure that we have a positive impact in all these areas. Where there is a negative impact, we will work to minimise this.

Our people

We deliver beyond our statutory obligations to our employees, caring for their health, safety and welfare at work. Our people are our true assets and deserve more than the minimum. To reflect the value we place on them, we consult and involve our people in decision making and empower them to shape their career path, influence their working environment and our involvement in the community. We care, and that’s what sets us apart.

Our communities

We recognise that we have a responsibility to support community projects and to look for ways in which we can use our expertise to help and support our stakeholders. Anyone our business affects, we consider to be our stakeholders, and we work with and support those whose values are aligned with our own.

Our people volunteer and participate in local community projects, support small or local businesses, and look for opportunities to share their expertise and skills with others.

Our clients & suppliers

We are committed to professionalism and integrity in everything we do, which is illustrated by the importance we attach to our Chartered Insurance Broker status. We know our clients and suppliers have high expectations of us and so we strive to work with consistency, integrity and fairness to ensure that we deliver results that are important to them.

We have developed fair and robust policies including anti-slavery, equality and diversity, and are committed to working with our suppliers who share our values in providing safe and fair working environments.

The environment

We recognise our responsibility towards the environment in which we work and live. We are committed to meeting our legal and regulatory obligations, as well as taking action to minimise the impact we have on the environment wherever possible. Our goal is for this commitment be part of our business strategy and our day-to-day activities.

Every year, Aston Lark hosts the ‘Team Athlon’ to raise money for our two chosen company charities (in 2020 these are the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK). Both these charities do tremendous work, and their causes are clearly close to the hearts of the people in our company who voted for them.

Aston Lark employees and other participants from insurer partners we work closely with compete in either a 5k or a 10k run, or a 15k bike ride. The event sees over 100 people in attendance, with racers and spectators coming together from across the country. Our 2019 Team Athlon raised a fantastic £8,000!

Aston Lark are proud to partner with Smart Works, a charity that supports unemployed women in preparation for their upcoming job interviews with a two-hour dressing and coaching service. Once a client is successful at an interview, they are welcomed back for a second dressing to receive five additional pieces of clothing for their new role.

Our volunteers work with candidates to help them prepare for their upcoming interviews, giving them practical guidance on interview formats, sharing what they can expect to be asked and helping them to think of answers to these questions. It’s not just about what they wear, it’s about giving them every possible help to succeed.

Alice Roberts, Learning and Development Manager, says,“Being involved with Smart Works is so rewarding, especially when you hear the ladies have been successful. I look forward to my next visit and being able to help more women.”
